Alec Baldwin Shooting on 'Rust' Set: Everything to Know So Far

While filming his movie Rust on Thursday, October 21, 2021, Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun that injured the film’s director, Joel Souza, and director of photography, Halyna Hutchins.

The incident took place at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. According to the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department, the weapon was once “discharged” by way of the 30 Rock alum and Deadline later reported that production on the Western was once paused.

Souza and Hutchins had been rushed to receive medical attention after being struck. Hutchins used to be pronounced dead at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. Deadline later reported that Souza was once released from the hospital the day after the shooting.

“Mr. Baldwin got here in voluntarily to speak with investigators,” sheriff’s place of business spokesman Juan Ríos famous in a remark, saying that the placement would be treated like “another investigation.”

Baldwin broke his silence on Hutchins’ death someday after the shooting via X (formerly known as Twitter). “There are no phrases to put across my surprise and disappointment regarding the tragic coincidence that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a spouse, mom and deeply admired colleague of ours,” he wrote. “I’m totally cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I'm involved with her husband, offering my support to him and his circle of relatives. My heart is damaged for her husband, their son, and all who knew and liked Halyna.”
