Baring all of it for the animals! Alicia Silverstone stripped down for her new PETA billboard, which seems simply outside NYC’s Times Square.
The advert for the nonprofit animal-rights group, which was once shot by way of well-known photographer Brian Bowen Smith, debuted Monday, November 21, on the intersection of 40th Street and Eighth Avenue, ahead of the vacation buying groceries season. In the photograph, the Clueless actress, 40, stands totally naked in a field, preserving a sheep masks. The slogan reads, “I’d moderately move naked than wear wool. Wear your personal pores and skin. Let animals stay theirs.”
Silverstone, a longtime vegan and animal-rights activist, has already sworn off wearing leather-based or down. Now she’s ditching wool for PETA’s #WoolFreeWinter and pledging that she's going to not buy the material.
The Batman & Robin actress explains how cruelly the sheep are handled in a video on PETA’s website. “They’re lower. They’re harmed,” she says. “They get very seriously wounded and there’s no care for them once they’re wounded. It’s just transfer on to the next. These aren't creatures to the people who find themselves doing this. They’re just items. When the sheep are no longer helpful, they’re killed. There is no happy place they get to move for being a wool sheep.”
Silverstone now joins the many celebs, including Eva Mendes, Olivia Munn, Taraji P. Henson and Penelope Cruz, who have posed naked to inspire folks to be conscious of their cloth cabinet choices.
