Billy Joel and ex-wife Christie Brinkley have remained on just right phrases within the years after their divorce.

The former couple tied the knot in March 1985, welcoming daughter Alexa that December. After nearly 10 years of marriage, Joel and Brinkley divorced in August 1994. (Joel also stocks daughters Della and Remy along with his fourth spouse, Alexis Roderick. Brinkley stocks son Jack with Richard Taubman and daughter Sailor with Peter Cook.)

Despite their break up, the musician and the former type have kept an amicable relationship — and they’ll even cohost Christmas carol singalongs together right through the vacation season.

“Many years after our divorce, Billy would nonetheless come to my space for the Christmas singalong and play the piano, and all our pals would come over and sing Christmas carols,” Brinkley told Social Life magazine in 2019. “Singalongs are certainly one of my favourite things to do. And you understand that’s what makes everyone satisfied.”

Early 1983

While vacationing in St. Barts, Joel and Brinkley crossed paths at an airport.

“I recognized her immediately,” Joel later instructed Rolling Stone. “She was more stunning than she was once in her photos — [I believed], ‘Oh, wow, that’s Christie Brinkley. I wonder if she is aware of who I am.’ So I did what I call an album quilt — I attempted to seem like me on an album duvet. I gave it every attitude I could. She didn’t acknowledge me from a hole within the wall.”

Later, they ran into each and every different at a bar the place Joel attempted to impress her together with his song.

News broke in April 1994 that the pair break up after nine years of marriage, with experiences that they’d been separated for the reason that earlier Thanksgiving. Their divorce used to be finalized in August 1994.

2001

While it’s unclear what exactly brought about the pair’s divorce — rumors have ranged from Brinkley’s wish to relocate to California to her irritations with Joel’s intensive traveling commitments — Brinkley alluded to some other doable issue.

“Just because other folks can specific themselves through their artwork doesn’t mean they're nice communicators in person,” she said in 2001, in step with Entertainment Weekly.

2011

Joel and Alexa attended Brinkley’s premiere of Broadway’s Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre in NYC.

2014

A decade after their divorce, Brinkley insisted there was no bad blood between her and Joel.  “I’ve all the time adored him. I simply couldn’t live with him anymore,” Brinkley advised The New Yorker.
