Colin Jost and Michael Che: SNLs Table Read Felt Like a Podcast

Sign of the times. Colin Jost and Michael Che spread out about how Saturday Night Live kept the laughs coming for the show’s first in-person table read amid the coronavirus pandemic — from a protected distance.

The Saturday Night Live stars gave the impression on the Thursday, October 1, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to provide an explanation for how the practice session operated with new COVID safety protocols.

“How’s it like running six feet apart from each and every other?” host Jimmy Fallon requested, to which Che, 37, replied, “I adore it! I owe a lot of folks cash. Nobody can get it from me. It’s very best.”

Jost said it was once laborious to tell apart people’s voices during the table read, which made the practice session more difficult than usual.

“We have 20 forged participants in our display right now, and they must be six ft apart,” the How to Be Single star defined. “So 20 times six is, uh, almost definitely like 1,000? I don’t know. So, you’re in a table read and you’re listening to voices and you’re like ‘Who mentioned that?’”

Che added, “Yeah, it feels like you’re listening to a podcast. You don’t see any one! It’s great.”

Saturday Night Live will return on Saturday, October 3, for its first live episode for the reason that pandemic began. The season Forty six premiere will feature host Chris Rock, musical guest Megan Thee Stallion, and Jim Carrey and Maya Rudolph making guest appearances as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, respectively. The episode may have a live target market that might be given COVID checks previous to the display and required to wear masks.

Fallon asked the Saturday Night Live writers what the target audience will look like, to which Che joked, “White. Historically, they’re all white. I don’t know for those who’re a fan, but …”

In August, Jost spread out about every other challenge he had to face all through his time on SNL — facing trolls. The Staten Island Summer superstar instructed Seth Meyers all the way through the 92Y digital communicate that he battled depression after he was once criticized for taking on as coanchor on “Weekend Update.”

“I felt depressed that I simply felt like I used to be failing at it,” he recalled. “That used to be the toughest part. And I didn’t fairly know the way to not feel that approach or easy methods to get out of that feeling.”
