Cruel Summer's Season 2 Finale Reveals Major Season 1 Easter Egg

Freeform’s Cruel Summer used their season 2 finale to introduce a major Easter egg — which connects the story back to season 1.

During the belief to the sophomore season, which aired on Monday, July 31, Megan (Sadie Stanley) choices up her keys that are on most sensible of a guide titled Out of the Basement: The Kate Wallis Story.

Kate Wallis (Olivia Holt) was at first introduced in season 1 because the show adopted her kidnapping — and subsequent rescue. Fellow student Jeanette Turner (Chiara Aurelia) was accused of realizing about Kate’s whereabouts however keeping it a secret. In the overall scene of the primary season it was once published that Jeanette was aware that Kate was held captive in their vice fundamental Martin Harris’ (Blake Lee) basement.

Before the premiere of season 2, government producer Michelle Purple teased that the characters had been all part of the similar universe.

That similar month, Stanley, 21, and Underwood, 19, introduced a glimpse at the conversations that took place between them and the season 1 cast.

“It used to be just incredible being able to have the group from season 1 that definitely understood that formula and that structure of it. Because this can be a little bit difficult navigating telling a tale whilst additionally taking part in three other variations of your personality or having those 3 other timelines,” Underwood completely told Us Weekly. “Being able to have them guide us — it more or less took the force off of feeling like we needed to do better. Like [we had to] best something or live up to positive standards. When we do interact with [the season 1 forged], they’re all simply so incredibly nice they usually’ve given us so much like beef up and love.”

Stanley, for her section, praised Aurelia, 20, and Holt, 25, for the recommendation they gave after starring in Cruel Summer.

“Chiara and Olivia have both been so, so supportive and so lovely and reached out to either one of us,” Stanley shared with Us. “I had met Chiara a couple of occasions [and] she’s beautiful. Olivia got here to set in the future while we were filming in Vancouver and she or he’s superior.”
