Charlie’s Angels director McG suggested that there is usually a 3rd movie sooner or later with authentic cast participants Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz and Drew Barrymore.
“It would take an extended discussion with those three glorious performers who I like,” McG, 55, tells Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday, August 30. “I used to be very happy to peer [director] Elizabeth Banks take the helm and do what she did, which was once fun. There always appears to be chatter about that.”
The director provides that while he’s “more than pleased” to talk about the possibility with Liu, 54, Diaz, 51, and Barrymore, 48, he's also open to “pass the torch” to any individual else.
“But who knows? Maybe we’ve were given one left in us that tells an overly compelling tale if the opportunity gifts itself,” McG stocks. “I like the 3 of them such a lot. They put me at the map. They seemed out for me when I was a first-time filmmaker. I used to be very just about fired off that film on many, many occasions and Drew stood up for me and I’m endlessly indebted to her. And obviously, those are 3 performers the place God broke the mildew. They don’t make ‘em like that. I imply, those are three special ones.”
The first movie, Charlie’s Angels, was released in 2000 and some other sequel premiered in 2003. Over 15 years later, Banks, 49, directed another sequel in 2019 with a completely other cast together with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott and Ella Balinska.
In April 2020, Diaz shared that she would be open to returning to the film series. “Oh, my God, it could be such a lot a laugh,” she gushed all the way through an Instagram Live.
Five months later, Barrymore discussed the importance of Charlie’s Angels because the movie celebrated its twentieth anniversary that October.
“We spent 4 years of our lives making those motion pictures, enhancing them, traveling the arena to advertise, coaching kung fu, and now we have the longest-lasting friendships out of it,” she defined to Entertainment Tonight at the time. “To know that we were given to be a part of something so empowered — and that movie, we wanted to have ladies in it that had been sturdy and succesful and had a way of humor.”

“The factor I really like about our friendship is that we've got been there in all of the big and necessary moments,” Barrymore shared. “We’ve also been there within the small moments and the informal moments, and we are such good buddies as it’s actual. We undergo stuff with each and every different. It’s now not a Hollywood fairy-tale.”
