Grey’s Anatomy has captivated audiences since its March 2005 premiere, but infrequently, what was going on behind-the-scenes of the series was more dramatic than what went down in the fictional hallways of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital.

“I do my absolute best and all of us do our perfect. It’s in reality, the adventure of it has been slightly fascinating as a result of clearly we’ve had our ups and downs at the back of the scenes,” sequence megastar Ellen Pompeo admitted on Late Night With Seth Meyers in November 2017.

She added: “It’s been a very attention-grabbing journey. … It began out a technique and at this time where we are in this type of other place from the place we began.”

The clinical drama first made headlines back in October 2006 after reviews surfaced that Isaiah Washington, who performed Dr. Preston Burke, used a homophobic slur on set. As the series endured to realize recognition over the next decade, fans searched for the fact at the back of the quite a lot of solid shake-ups and killed-off characters.

Past drama from the set made headlines once more in September 2021 following the unlock of Lynette Rice’s How to Save a Life: The Inside Story of Grey’s Anatomy. One of the issues of contention explored was the solid’s relationships with Patrick Dempsey.

“There were times the place Ellen used to be pissed off with Patrick and she or he would get offended that he wasn’t operating as much,” producer Jeannine Renshaw recalled in the book. “She used to be very big on having issues be fair. She simply didn’t like that Patrick would bitch that ‘I’m here too past due’ or ‘I’ve been here too lengthy’ when she had two times as many scenes in the episode as he did. When I brought it as much as Patrick, I would say, ‘Look around you. These folks have been right here since 6:30 a.m.’ He would move, ‘Oh, yeah.’ He would get it. It’s simply that actors have a tendency to look things from their very own viewpoint. He’s like a child.”

The actor at the back of Derek “McDreamy” Shepherd was once allegedly the reason of some “HR problems” too, according to producer James D. Parriott.

I believe he used to be simply carried out with the show. He didn’t like the inconvenience of coming in every day and dealing. He and Shonda [Rhimes] have been at every different’s throats.”
