Since her release from prison, Gypsy Rose Blanchard has watched one episode of The Act — but she isn’t sure how she feels about it.
“I believe Joey King did an important job playing me,” Blanchard, 32, exclusively advised Us Weekly whilst promoting her new Lifetime sequence, Gypsy Rose Life After Lock Up, which premieres on Monday, June 3. “I was somewhat bit harder on Patricia Arquette enjoying my mother simply because it’s my existence. I'm very hypercritical of it.”
While 2019’s The Act tried to depict Blanchard’s life growing up, she shared that her new show, Gypsy Rose Life After Lock Up, will depict “who [she is] today.”
“I type of feel like with The Prison Confessions, I’ve already cleared up so much of misinformation as to my previous, and so this is very future-based,” she explained.
Gypsy, who was once launched from prison in December 2023 after serving seven years for her mother Dee Dee Blanchard’s murder, wanted to create Gypsy Rose Life After Lock Up to turn people the actual her.
“From the moment that I was launched until [the] present, this has been one thing that I have wanted viewers to be along this journey with me because it has been so many ups and downs,” she instructed Us. “When I used to be about to get launched, I was sitting in my jail cell and I used to be interested by all this and I’m like, ‘I’m so drained of this prison model of myself that I think other folks know me by way of.’ … I want to destroy that mold and show individuals who I'm as a person.”
(*1*)Since being launched from prison, Gypsy has struggled adjusting again into on a regular basis life — particularly with her life being in the public eye.
“Everything around me is different. Even the language that individuals are using … they’re the usage of new slang than they used to,” she defined, including that she didn’t understand all the social media “hype” surrounding her liberate. “I felt like I used to be the remaining to grasp that I was the sort of [this] pseudocelebrity, however I don’t like being categorized a celeb. That’s simply another identify put on me through society, and I am just Gypsy.”
While Gypsy noted that it is hard to “mix in with the crowd” as a result of of her public life, she has gotten to percentage some just right moments since venturing out into the international once more.

“It’s the easy things,” she gushed. “I had Taco Bell. [My boyfriend] Ken [Urker] had taken me to Taco Bell for the first time and bought the entirety on the menu, and so that used to be relaxing. I went to the seashore for the first time because I’ve been to a lake in the past, however I had now not been to the ocean where I will be able to stroll on the sand and know what that looks like. So that used to be a lovely first.”
