May 2024 · 1 minute read
More hearth, more blood. We're counting down the days until Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon returns for season 2. The HBO sequence, based on George R.R. Martin's novel Fire & Blood, is expected to have fewer time jumps after the first season spanned more than a decade to give an explanation for how Rhaenyra (Emma D'Arcy) and Alicent (Olivia Cooke) began their family feud. The turning point, which took place in the ultimate episode, was the dying of Rhaenyra's son Lucerys (Elliot Grihault). Her son used to be killed all through a dragon fight with Aemond (Ewan Mitchell). "The moment that she receives the news of Luke's passing, that attempt at mediation crumbles," D'Arcy advised Entertainment Weekly in October 2022, referring to Rhaenyra’s various attempts to make peace along with her family. “I am excited to uncover what happens when Rhaenyra does less navigating and more performing on her instincts and desires."
