Leah Messer has always been there for her daughters. Contrary to studies, the Teen Mom 2 celebrity tells Us Weekly exclusively that she never lost custody of her 8-year-old dual daughters, Ali and Aleeah.
“The current custody situation, just honestly … whatever we expect is best for them, we do. We are doing the week on after which every week off,” the 26-year-old tells Us about her custody settlement with the twins’ dad and her ex-husband Corey Simms. “It’s all the time been 50/50. People have been like, ‘Leah misplaced custody’ … I nearly did, but I never lost custody of my kids.”
Messer and Simms, 29, fought over custody of the women in 2015 after the MTV star sought treatment for anxiety and despair. During season 6 of Teen Mom 2, Simms accused her of no longer getting the ladies to university on time. Messer insisted completely to Us on the time that she used to be handiest late getting them to kindergarten as soon as. However, she does admit the custody battle was “the lowest level” in her life.
“It would undoubtedly be going during the custody stuff with Corey,” she tells Us. “‘Cause if someone knows me they know that on the subject of being a mom and my girls, they're my lifestyles. They are my lifestyles. … I wasn’t in the biggest place mentally and then it was once affecting me physically, like it virtually price me my kids. … I was suicidal. It used to be a fight. I think that will be the lowest level.”
Years later, alternatively, Messer tells Us that things are “going great” between her and Simms.
Messer may even deal with her low issues on her new podcast, “Life Reboot.”
“There’s a lot that I will be able to cope with on the podcast. My function … is to percentage what I've went through and what I’ve discovered as I’ve went through it,” she tells Us. “Every high and low in my lifestyles … that’s what I’m maximum excited to share and really assist others with issues that may be going via the same issues.”
“At the tip of the day do what’s easiest for the kids,” she explains. “They’re those that subject.”
As for Messer’s dating with Jeremy Calvert, with whom she stocks her 5-year-old daughter Addie, she tells Us the exes have “for sure learned to coparent.”
“We are great folks and that’s all we’ll ever be,” she provides about her ex-husband. “We’re nice coparents together.”
