National football stars Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis began courting all over the COVID-19 pandemic and have been together ever since.
Rumors about the U.S. nationwide player and Australian captain started circulating following an intimate second between the 2 after Australia lost to Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The couple later revealed that they had been dating since 2020 in a January 2023 interview with Gaffer.
“We had been compelled to talk,” Mewis stated at the time.
“Literally pressured to speak,” Kerr chimed in. “It used to be about 3 or 4 months till shall we hand around in person. The first time we ever met there was once quarantine so we had to spend two weeks together the primary time we met. I was pondering if I don’t like her this is going to be awkward.”
Luckily, the pair get on well and fell deeply in love. After navigating a long-distance relationship for years, they introduced their engagement in November 2023. One month later, Mewis signed with West Ham United and moved to London to be nearer to her fiancée.
Despite their ups and downs, Mewis hopes their romance can serve as an inspiration to others.
“I believe just being out and being two women in love, I feel if we will trade one or two other people’s lives and the way that they really feel about each and every different and how comfy they really feel, then that suggests a lot to me,” Mewis instructed Gaffer in 2023.

Team USA confronted off against Australia within the Tokyo Olympics. After USA scored the bronze medal, Mewis sat on the box and gave Kerr a hug to help comfort her. The pair’s touching second sparked dating rumors.
August 2021
After the couple’s second at the field went viral, Kerr took to Instagram sharing a polaroid of the athletes kissing. Kerr captioned the submit with a middle emoji and tagged Mewis, confirming the two’s relationship.
November 2021
The long-distance couple reunited for a two-day recreation collection held in Sydney, Australia. Though they faced every different at the pitch, Mewis shared a photograph of the pair guffawing while preserving fingers days sooner than the first match.

Kerr and Mewis posed for Gaffer and spread out about their long distance relationship.
“I believe like we simply make it work,” Mewis instructed Gaffer in January 2023. “Like it clearly sucks doing long distance, however we make it paintings.”
“We set little milestones,” Kerr added. “We make time during the week the place we’ll watch the similar show and FaceTime or have dinner in combination or one thing. But it’s difficult. I think the article that assists in keeping us going is that we can see an end level.”

Before going through off on the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Mewis shared snippets of her life, including a screenshot of a FaceTime call she had with Kerr.
Though the U.S. workforce used to be eradicated in the Round of 16, Mewis confirmed as much as cheer on Kerr for Australia’s match. After securing the win, Kerr ran over to the stands to present Mewis a large hug.

The couple introduced their engagement by the use of Instagram in November, revealing that Kerr had gotten down on one knee months prior.
