Sopranos actor Frank Pellegrino has died at age 72 following a battle with lung cancer, Us Weekly can ascertain.

The actor was once highest known for playing FBI Chief Frank Cubitoso on the iconic HBO sequence from 1999 until 2004. He also starred in 1990’s gangster-themed film Goodfellas as Johnny Dio, and appeared on Law & Order: Criminal Intent in 2002.

Aside from his acting occupation, Pellegrino was a a hit restaurateur. He co-owned Rao’s, a celeb-loved Italian eatery — first established in 1896 through Pellegrino’s great-uncle Charles Rao — in New York City’s East Harlem community. (Rao’s has sister places in Las Vegas and Hollywood.)

Some of Pellegrino’s restaurant’s well-known consumers included Woody Allen, Tony Bennett and Michael Douglas, amongst others. Rao’s has been featured in films and television displays equivalent to The Wolf of Wall Street, Law & Order, Bravo’s Top Chef or even Jay Z’s “D.O.A.” tune video.

An insider tells Us that the eating place shall be closed for every week in the wake of Pellegrino’s demise.

Family friend Fox Business’ Charles Gasparino took to Facebook on Tuesday to pay tribute to Pellegrino. “To say Frank was a NY legend is an irony — he bled this city and its egalitarian promise. People love to speak how nobody can get a desk at Rao's. Well, that’s true but it misses the purpose. The tables got out to old time consumers when the place became hot some years ago. New entrants had to wait their turn to ‘own’ a desk, and it didn’t topic who they have been,” Gasparino wrote. “[Business magnate] Warren Buffett used to be a type of who wanted a desk and confronted Frankie's well-known ‘no.’”

“You see, Frankie loved to sing to his buyers and that night time [he denied Buffett], as he was belting out The Temptations’ classic ‘My Girl,’ he became to Buffett and sang: ‘I don't want no cash, fortune or status…I've got all the riches, baby, one man can claim,’” he endured. “He did in fact: His circle of relatives, buddies, his restaurant and his acting. Frank, I’m going to leave out you screaming at me this is till we meet at the different facet. RIP my pal.”

Pellegrino is survived by means of his son Frank Pellegrino, (*72*). Funeral and memorial services and products haven't begun to be announced.
