Tom Cruise Is 'Over the Moon' About 'Top Gun' Oscars Recognition

Recognition from his friends! Tom Cruise has had a protracted and storied career in Hollywood — but the awards season recognition for Top Gun: Maverick is a new prime.

“Tom is over the moon that he’s been nominated as a producer by both the Oscars, and particularly the Producers Guild,” an insider solely finds of the Mission: Impossible actor, 60, in the new issue of Us Weekly.

I would like you to know that I’m all the time rooting for you. I’m rooting for all of you. I look ahead to seeing what you create in the future, and I’ll proceed to do all I will to give a contribution and assist this industry and this artwork shape that I love.”

In January, the Minority Report actor scored an Oscar nomination as a producer on Top Gun: Maverick, which hit theaters in May 2022. He has in the past been nominated thrice as an actor — scoring nods for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia — but he has never won.

Top Gun: Maverick, then again, could be the film that adjustments his luck at the Academy Awards. The movie is also nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Song, Best Sound, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects.

The insider notes that Cruise may also be pulling for his “outdated friend” Andrea Riseborough at this year’s Oscars, which air on Sunday, March 12. The U.Okay. native, 41, scored a surprise Best Actress nomination for her efficiency in To Leslie, an unbiased film that made lower than $40,000 at the field office.

Riseborough and Cruise previously worked in combination on the 2013 motion movie Oblivion, which was once directed by means of Joseph Kosinski, who also helmed Top Gun: Maverick.
