Whoopi Goldberg shut down her The View cohost Ana Navarro’s claims that the overdue Bill Geddie was once concerned within the debatable firing of Joy Behar a decade in the past.
“[Geddie] hired Joy and fired Joy. And she nonetheless loves him!” Navarro, 51, said on the Monday, July 24, episode of The View as they mentioned the legacy of the display’s cocreator, who died on Friday, July 21, at age 68. (Behar, 80, was lacking from the Monday episode and Sherri Shepherd joined as a guest host to pay tribute to Geddie.)
After Navarro’s statement Goldberg, 67, let her cohost know she was improper about Behar’s controversial and brief exit.
“He didn’t hearth Joy,” Goldberg stated in a significant tone whilst shaking her head. “No, he didn't, that used to be … yeah.”
After mentioning Alyssa Farrah Griffin had a “question,” Goldberg did not elaborate on her correction and the panel moved on to their subsequent talking level.
In 2013, Behar — who used to be some of the unique hosts along Barabra Walters — used to be briefly let cross from The View for two years. Her cohost Elisabeth Hasselback was once also fired at the time. Walters and Geddie — who created the display together in 1997 — had been the main executive manufacturers of the morning display at the time of the duo’s firing. (Walters died in December 2022 at age 93.)
“Joy Behar has been instrumental within the good fortune of The View from the very beginning,” ABC said in a observation on the time. “We want her all the highest in this next chapter, and are overjoyed that we've got her for the remainder of the season.”

It used to be therefore reported that Behar was once leaving the display on her own to pursue different initiatives. During her hiatus, Behar would make guest appearances on the show sooner than she made her permanent return in 2015.
However, nearly a decade after her dramatic exit, she admitted that wasn’t the case.
“I used to be satisfied to be fired,” Behar instructed Time in 2022. “I mainly used to be unwell of the show at that time for some explanation why, I don’t even consider why.”

While Behar hasn’t discussed the explanation at the back of her go out, she has joked about her short-lived departure from the ABC talk show.
“I’ve been on this display for 26 years, right?,” she said on a May episode of The View. “With a small hiatus as we all know — compelled.”
